The automatic gas station network has exceeded its sales forecast with more than 692 million liters of fuel sold
- The company has opened 52 new service stations in 2022, expanding throughout the country with the arrival in the Canary Islands, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Navarre and Catalonia.
- With 156 service stations in Spain at the end of the year, the company plans to expand its business to other countries, reaching 300 operational service stations by 2024.
The leading company in the automatic service station sector, Plenoil, has exceeded its sales forecast and sold a total of 692 million liters during the 2022 financial year. This represents a more than twofold increase compared to the results obtained in 2021 -327 million liters sold-. Last year, it also recorded more than 30 million refuelings, tripling its turnover to 970 million euros.
The expansion plan launched by the company has led to the opening of service stations in new regions such as the Canary Islands, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Navarre and Catalonia.
Openings
Plenoil has registered a total of 52 openings in 2022, 38 of them during the second half of the year. By 2021, it has increased its service stations by 50%, from 104 operating points to 156.
Leasing land is not the company’s only form of expansion, as during 2022 they have opted to lease conventional service stations for automation, so that they comply with current ITC-MI-IP04 regulations and serve customers 24 hours a day.

“We are exploring new avenues such as leasing and retrofitting gas stations of this type to bring fuel closer to drivers. In this way, by projecting gas stations close to urban areas, we are able to offer them an essential product, preventing them from making unnecessary trips,” says Plenoil’s CEO, José Rodríguez de Arellano.
The company aims to objective continue to grow in the rest of Spain, as well as expand the business to other countries, with the objective of reaching 300 operational gas stations by 2024, while maintaining the most competitive prices in the market. By 2023, the company expects to exceed 1,000 million liters, which, in the current price environment, will represent a turnover of more than 1,200 million euros (excluding VAT).
